Southern Northern is a brand & design studio that works with the cannabis, beer, wine & distilled spirits industries.
Founded in 2016 by Chris Lang as an outlet for his frustration with the traditional agency model, Southern Northern has become a powerhouse design studio capable of large agency projects without the overhead.
Early on our goal was to support the things we are passionate about which happened to be the regional cannabis, wine, beer & distilled spirits markets.
Today Chris is joined by Jill Lang who has expanded Southern Northern’s capabilities in product photography, styling & brand strategy.

Chris Lang
Founder / Principal
Chris Lang is a lifelong fine artist specializing in a variety of media including design, illustration, photography & painting. Chris received his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in 2004 from Radford University where he studied traditional silver photography. Chris has a serious problem with sitting still. This restlessness has manifested in his wide variety of creative pursuits. He is a collector of skills which he often uses in his projects at Southern Northern. Over the years he has produced products in the millions of units all over the world.
Jill Lang
Co-Founder / Photographer
Jill Lang is a design & photography professional with a passion for visual storytelling using food and beverage as subjects for her styled tablescapes & shoots. Jill received her Bachelor’s of Science in 2004 from Radford University where she studied fashion design & media studies. Having a vast culinary knowledge & love of vintage textures, Jill often combines these pursuits creating rich visual depth to her photography.Jill has shot for brands such as, P&G, Virgils & Native.
